Is that area between Lake Ozette and Forks worth hunting during the late rifle deer season?  I usually hunt up near Winthrop, but I'm deployed at the moment and won't be home till the 2nd week of November.  So no time to scout around there.  Also thinking maybe I could go a few days early and do some elk hunting too.  Maybe I'm dreaming though.  Plus the wife would be pissed, gone 6 months, home a few days and go hunting for 10 days!  Anyways, I live on Whidbey, so the Peninsula is my local choice.  Well, besides home. I have 5 acres and could shoot a deer from the dining room, but what fun is that?  I'm open to suggestions too.  I did do some hunting down west of Shelton once a few years ago, and did see a fwe bucks run across the road.  Any opinions, advice, or experiences?

i live in forks and work over in the hoko area there are lots of gated roads but behind those gates are a lot of clearcuts i see several deer out in that country but dont hunt the area i tend to stay closer to home the late season can at times be better then the general season i say go for it you can bike or walk behind the gates and get away from the crowed

I've really been considering doing the biking thing.  Should I expect a lot of company over there?  Any place in specific you reccomend or that I should stay away from?  I usally pitch a tent or just sleep in the truck where ever I end up at night.   Many elk i that area or they stay closer to the national park?

there are lots of elk around and lots of elk hunters around i recommend the Hoko Ozette rd there are lots of gated logging rds there and i would also expect to see other hunters there has been a lot of logging in that area over the last few years so there are huge clearcuts there with a lot of feed and cover for the deer also there are lots of places to pull over on the side of the Hoko rd that a guy can pull off and spend the night in a pickup

That is one thing I like about making the drive to the east side, getting out of the thick brush.  It's nice to be able to get high and glass.  Guess this will help make me a more well rounded hunter.
