Boat launch
« on: August 10, 2009, 09:24:45 AM »
This morning we get up at 2:30 AM. Get in the truck and head down to the boat launch. we are approaching and we look in the parking lot and we are like YEs no one here. We pull up to the boat ramp and get ready to back down. suddenly we look at the dock and water. the water is 4-5ft low. we cant launch our boat becuase its too shallow the bottom would hit the rocks. and there isn't enough pads for the trailer to even get the boat floating.  :bash: :bash: so we had to pull out and go home. I guess the kings will have to wait until tonight. I hate it when this happens.

anyone else have it happen to them anywhere?

Why not run down to Hydro park or up to Confluence SP?  Only a few minutes run time from either of those when Orondo is too low.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Confluence was pushing boats through one after another yesterday.  We stopped there to eat a snack by the water on our way home.

The gates open at 6 at confluence state park. we were going out at 3. didnt really want to wait 3 hours. hydro. its on the same river. confluence would have been just as bad.

Dude that sucks. Launches are a real pain sometimes. Reminds me of when I was helping my dad with the fisheries department at the UW. We were setting gill nets on Lk WA. We launched the boat just fine but the guy who was in charge of maintaining the boats didnt put the rear plug in so we started taking on alot of water luckily we had buckets and the plug was sittin on the console haha.

The guy in charge of maintaining the boat leaves the plug out so you dont have to drain the boat before you launch it, hence it was left on the dash for the operator.  Your job is to put the plug in before you launch....  :chuckle:

NorthRiver. The ramp at Beebe would be okay even if they dropped the river 5 more feet, don't know why you don't just run another 10 minutes up river. :dunno:

Check hydro next time, or even whenever you can get down there next.  Some of the launches on the Columbia have long ramps for just this occasion.

And the water is dropped for the salmon.  Im guessing since theres a large run coming through bonneville they are flushing ots of water down that way to accommodate them.  Coulee will spill soon and we'll be back to normal.
