rain?
« on: August 12, 2009, 07:40:18 AM »
hey kinda new to bear hunting, i was wondering does rain shut bears down or turn them on. i have been hunting yoters for the last week and it seems that the rain has realy shut them down and was wondering if i would be wasting my time to go out tonight(for a bear). i mean i have a banger spot but dont know if they will be bedded until the rain stops.

I have always notice that game animals change their behavior any time the weather changes.  If it is sunny for a while and then it changes to rain I dont see many animals for a day or two.  But they always return to their normal activities.  I dont know if this will answer your question on bears but they still have to eat no matter what the weather.

My favorite time for spot and stalk hunting bears is right after the rain stops.  If you have a good spot and the rain stops, you should be seeing bears.  Seems like they will become very active right after a good rain.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

It depends on the time of year.  This time of year, they will likely behave like us...rather sleep in a little, and soon as it stops, go out and fill our tummies.  Later in the year when they are feeding 20 hours a day...it'd have to be some severe weather to keep them from putting on their winter fat.

I've noticed in areas where there's more human activity, animals are more likely to bed down during the days.  However I've also been out in no man's land and have seen em out feeding in the rain.
