That's because it's classified as SAO... Springfield even marketed it that way when they first came out. Put a Powder River Trigger kit in it... then you won't believe how nice the trigger can be. I put one in my XD, and the full trigger travel is now shorter than the take-up used to be... it's about 3#s... the reset is about 1/3rd or what it was...and there's no overtravel. All that for about $80 and an hour at the kitchen table.

Just Googled it.  Easy install?  I think that you just cost me 80 bucks!

A quick question for those that know, how does the Springfield XD compare to the S&W M&P?
"I think I have a fish"
"probably bottom"
"bottom doesn't head shake!"

Here's a link to the complete install instructions... it took me about an hour and a half.

The M&P is a very similar pistol... I like the Springfield because of the grip safety (like the 1911) and the stainless magazines. I don't think a guy could go wrong with any of the major polymer framed pistols... Glock, XD, M&P, Sig, Taurus, STI, etc... they've got pretty much all the bugs worked out... so it's just a matter of what features you prefer.

I've owned both. Sold the M&P to get the XD, and I would never go back. The M&P was VERY picky about which ammo it liked to make go boom. Lots of mis-fires.

Great gun.  Good feel and it shot well.  I've owned 2 of them.  I'd buy another in a second.

I have had two XD40's, neither would cycle HP's, not even after I polished the feed ramp to a mirror finish. It would feed everything else flawlessly. I did check out the serial numbers and both were some of the first to come off the assembly line marked for Springfield. I did eventually end up getting a sx45 and it worked flawless, no matter what.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.
