Wildlife technologies has the best cougar sounds for an ecaller.  I know Rainshadow uses a hand call of his own design and a WT.

Some of you veteran cat callers have any advice or problems with this article?

No problems with the article, it was well written.  Dogs, walking them up, and calling are the best methods.  All 3 methods utilize extremely fresh sign to be effective.  Personally, I would never waste time cold-calling.  I know of a very successful guide that does it in Arizona, but he scouts ideal cat country year round, and then calls those areas come hunting season.

Thanks guys.  I am trying to build up some book knowledge on lion calling.  I plan on hitting it hard this fall.  I was trying to figure out a way to get the most out of my calling time by trying to figure out the best call and strategy to get the most different kind of predators to come in.

Good luck on getting a cat.

I called in a cougar in Sept using chirps, then when i figured it held up I used the cougar in heat and it came in ready for a fight. Steve thinks it was probably a female that was protecting her 2 yearlings. That was fun. I've been checking my mailbox daily for Steve's CD so I can try it again.

Cool.  I dont have a cougar in heat sound yet but I do have Rainshadows CD so I have just about every other sound.

Here is a video of cheetahs doing the chirping sound.  Crazy that a big cat make little tweety bird sounds

Two Cheetahs calling their brother to eat.
