Are any of you planning on going out a little later in the season to get full furred Billys, or are you headed out first day to find one withthe biggest horns?

I'm going Sept 6th thru the 16th, not sure how the fur is gonna be that far north right now. I'm hoping for long hair AND big horns.    ;)

PRobably a little early for long hair.  I'm not a goat expert, but think that is more in October.

I would agree but its going to be 150 miles north of Smithers, I know winter will be coming on a little sooner.

Don't have a tag but would definitely be stressed about it if I did. I'd want to wait, but how long should a guy? It would really suck to get dumped on before you got it done.

Actually it awsome huntin 'em in the snow.  I've one goat client lined up for this year, I keep telling him we'll wait as long as possible this fall for cold weather to the fur good and thick.  Hopefully cold weather comes early this year.

I can't imagine what the 3 to 4 hour hike that I did today would be like in the snow.  It would be a marathon.  Maybe some areas are more accessible for hunting in the snow?  Bear

Do you find them more in the timber?

Just keep an eye on the weather. If there is an early snow, you may not be able to get to the area you want.
Some of those unsucessful hunts in the harvest reports are due to that.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.
