Savage Stevens 200 crack
« on: August 17, 2009, 09:05:20 PM »
A friend of mine has wanted to get into hunting for a while, so when Joe's went out of business he picked up a stevens 200 in .308. well, we shot it today to sight it in. After shooting less than a box of ammo and taking the proper measures to ensure the barrel remained cool, well, the picture speaks for itself.

what a crack! I've never seen anything like that before. The gun had never been fired prior to today and has been fired less than 15 times... what could have caused this? just a factory defect? we were lucky it didn't blow up...

there  is no way that happened, unless there was a defect with the gun.  Make them take care of it, and DOCUMENT everything and let them know you are doing that.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Go over to www.savageshooters.com and talk to them. They are obviously big on savage and might want to know about it. Might be able to help you out for cheap.

I have never heard about that, and that action is tried and proven to be a solid piece. I have the 200 in 300wm and now I want to go check it out.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.

Savage should cover that without any problems.  Savage Shooters is a good place to look for information.  That should be an easy fix, just unscrew barrel nut, inspect for damage and replace.
