It's that time to hit it hard and heavy from here on out. No rifle hunter mentality here. Getting into a rythm is absolutley necessary. When the opportunity happens we should not have to think about our shot. We should have practiced so much that it is all automatic. So lets get out there and make it happen. Practice till it hurts. If your practice session sucks rocks just chalk it up for a bad day and try again the next.

Wishing all a successful and safe season. Looking forward to reading everybodies hunting stories and viewing all your pictures also. On that note I am going out to shoot a little before it gets dark.

I just got in from shooting broadheads. I didnt need to make any ajustment to my mathews. Shoot good out to 40. I'll expand on that tomorrow. Good luck to all!

Been shooting almost daily, lucky enough that we have an area set up to shoot at the station so we get in a session or two per shift also.

Lucky for me I live about 2 miles from Skookum so I get to shoot very often, twice today. Broadheads flying very nicely. Now is when I see the last minute crowd trying to work the bugs out a week before deer opens, and two before elk.

I wasn't going to archery hunt at all this year because I have been having trouble with my old bow, and after shooting my buddy's Mathew's, I started hating my bow. But, today, I got a new Mathew's Reezen, and the tight groups that I'm already shooting, well, if the broadheads shoot that well, I think I'll be able to archery hunt after all. If I am confident of course. So far I'm very impressed with the accuracy of these new bows.

2 weeks is even better. shot good last year it will shoot good this year. Why waiste good shots on practice.

Sight your rifle in two days before the season opens. That is the only time you ever shoot you gun.

Been there done that.

Don't worry Iceman I have rifle hunted my entire life since 11 years of age. Does the words Pray and Spray ring a bell.
Unfortunatley there are quite a few archers who carry that over from rifle hunting into archery hunting. WOW!

If we are going to be successful at our chosen method of hunting practice is absolutley necessary. It just so happens that it takes a little more practice to be successful at archery than it does rifle hunting.

I have done both for a long time and I have nothing against rifle hunters. All I am saying is I have done the pray and spray and it does not work. Unless you get out and practice all types of shooting with your rifle, prone, kneeling, standing, leaning on the limb of a tree, laying over your back pack, leaning over a large boulder etc, etc, etc, you are not gonna be ready. From what I have seen over the years, being that I am also a rifle hunter, The majority of rifle hunters sight there rifles in the last two weeks before the season opens and they don't practice shooting otherwise during the course of the year. Hence my comment.

Shot yesterday and will shoot today.......everything is shooting just as good as it was a month ago and two months ago and 6 months ago...........

BUT I saw these Monster bows at the bow shop and

dude shooting 47lbs out of one was shooting just as fast as a 70 pound bowtech

I want one!

If you are shooting at a pie plate your are screwing yourself out of an elk IMO!!!!!!!!!!

At 60 yards you should be shooting at a target the size of a DIME

I just got back from the archery range shooting broadheads. I got back last night from my vacation to Long Beach. I even brought my bow and block with me on vacation!

I think this year I am well ahead of the curve for driving my with nuts.

Ive been shooting a lot. I started shooting 50yds with my broad heads just to keep an edge.

i shoot every day 2-3 times 20-60 yds... I shoot until I cant because im shaking so bad, hence why my kids are massaging icy hott into my right shoulderas im typing this.....

but I am dead on and cant wait.... gonna start tuning broadheads this week.. mmmmm tomorrow morning... ya that sounds better

Can't see a dime at sixty yards. Besides an elk is huge, you can't miss them even further out.

I've been shooting as often as I can all summer, 3 or 4 times a week. After work, sometimes on lunch, and weekends. Been shooting the broadheads for about a month now and got some issues worked out. Now I'm hitting the dot on my target out to 40 yds consistently. Yesterday I even tried shooting at odd yardages and still shot well. I'm ready!

I shot 3 or 4 days a week until early June, then left for my summer job in Alaska and left the bow at home. Yesterday was my 1st chance to shoot all summer, took 20 shots out to 45 yards and every shot fit into an area about the size of a paper plate, I'll have it dialed in by the 1st

Been shooting all summer but started shooting and working with my gear last week. Found that my new gloves cause me to shoot 2 inches to the right and I needed to move some gear around on my pack as not to get into the way. Had my backup release also give me trouble so I had to do some maintinance on that also. I'll be ready to go by Thursday night so I can relax and just shoot to keep the muscles loose until next Tuesday. Wow next Tuesday been waiting a long time to say that.

I shoot my bow year round. Want to have fun, go to Cabela's during the next couple of weeks and see how many folks are buying new bows (for the first time) to go hunting on the first. I actually saw a guy shoot a bow that he just bought and set up at their indoor range. His groups (in that tiny range) were 5-6 inches apart and he told his buddy that he was ready to hunt. Bring on the gut shot does.

Unfortunately that is pretty common. I have had guys come to my house at 8pm the night before they are going hunting with a box from Cabelas, new uncut arrows and all the accessories and want it put together so they can go hunting in the morning. I used to go out of my way to help but not now. Then there is the guy that shows up at the top of the mountain, been hunting for 2 days, decides to take a couple practice shots in camp and completely misses the block at 30 yards and says thats about normal. That guy ran his bow over with his truck the next day.....too many beers at lunch he said. Or hows about the guy that you run into while out hunting....you look at his quiver and he doesn't have 2 arrows that are the same. Yep spend a week up in the Nile and you see a bunch.

Been practicing for a while now and my fletchings are showing wear on them. I shoot with the odd color up. why are my fletchings hitting my rest? its driving me crazy.......i have a trophy taker and the experts at cabelas just moved my nock point up along with the rest so it would lay down flatter. think they could be hitting the plastic arrow alignment hooskerdoo that is out beyond the rest? Or am i supposed to shoot with the odd color fletching down? thanks,

Well I was out helping my buddy work out his bad habits and get dialed in last night. My broadheads are shooting very consistently out to sixty yards. I've put in more practice time and more scouting time this year than ever before. I know it's the pre season fever but I really am feeling good about this upcoming season. I think good things are gonna happen.

Well I just got my arrows back from Rainier Archery ( Fletched for Free) Boy what kind of crappy shop would do that?

Got home and shot one arrow at 40, 50 ,60 ,70 yards and they were all there.

Of course that was with one of them crappy cheap "Wasp Bullets"!

i had the same problem Hillbilly a while back. i tore off that arrow alignment thingy that helped a bunch but still had some fletch contact so i put the arrow, odd color up, on the string and ever so slightly twisted the arrow and shot until i didnt have any more fletch contact.

and i shoot year round, launching sticks is just too much fun to do once a year! everything is shooting lights out. just need to shoot my broadheads over the weekend to make any slight adjustments that may be needed
