Muzzleloaders
« on: August 23, 2009, 11:29:45 AM »
Hello,
I am very new to this type of hunting/shooting and I have a friend of mine coming in from Arizona on the 2nd of Oct and looking for a good hunt. I did a preliminary scout of unit 503, and 513, looked ok, but probably too soon to tell where big daddy will be by the hunt. I am a little familiar with 530 and that seems to be the more productive unit. Any ideas?

keep up the scouting  :dunno:
No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

All three of those are good units for the early muzzleloader hunt. You're right, Ryderwood probably has a higher number of elk killed but I think also has more hunters. Whichever one you're able to scout more would probably be the best choice. Also something to think about is that a good portion of the Ryderwood might still be closed due to fire danger during the early season. Hard to say right now but until we get a lot of rain they won't open it up for public access.
