handgun shotshells
« on: August 23, 2009, 01:11:37 PM »
Does anyone have any idea why they wouldn't recommend using the shotshells with a ported barrel?  Does it have something to do with the shot catching in the porting or something?  I e-mailed CCI and asked them but thought I'd ask you guys if you knew anymore than I do.  When I hear back from them I'll be sure to post their response.

Probably has more to do with the plastic cup the shot is held in, than the shot itself.

Just a guess though.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

How so?  I'm not sure how that would really affect it any.  It might, but I don't see where that would make much of a difference. :dunno:

Maybe the cup leading the shot has a tendancy to blast laterally thru the ports and cause pressure irregularity or surge....?

Ok, so here's the official answer from CCI.

Jeff: very difficult to duck fast enough to not get hit by pellet and/or
capsule fragments that are directed back at the shooter by the ports in
the barrel.  Safety issue for the shooter/bystander as well as the
target.  We would prefer that all of the danger was directed at the
target.
