broadhead accuracy question

Shooting a real nice tight group with my field points but my broadhead shots are low and to the right a bit. Shooting montec 125gr. I have shot them with the blades matching the vanes and the opposite of the vanes. Matching is better but still not close enough to my feild points for me. How do I fix this?

Have you paper tuned your bow?

make sure your bow is paper tuned perfectly and they should be right in there with the field points, unless the broadheads are not balanced.  Have you spun them to check?

Well if your bow is in speck and tuned correct ie paper tuned and walk back tuned you want to chase your field tips with broadheads.  This is done by moving nocking point down a pinch and rest away from the riser if ur right handed.  There are a lot more possible issues but I would start there and see if you will be able to tune ur broadheads to impact same point as field tips.  Otherwise get as close as you can and make adjustments to your sight.. In your back yard!  Make yourself a frame to set in front of your target that you can stretch some paper on and stand about 6 feet in front of the paper and shoot through it.  Do some searching around on the net and you will find lots of info.

If you've never paper tuned a bow, you can go to any bow shop and they'll help you.

You can google home made paper tuner and Im sure you will find some rather inexpensive directions.  Just make sure you have something to shoot through.

Put some specs down here and it will be easier to help.  You say that you have tight groups, at what distances are they tight.  Is it 4" at 60yds or 4" at 20yds?

Crunchy has the right idea if your arrow is spined heavy enough for broadheads, if spined weak your field points will usually shoot to the right. If spined too stiff usually just the opposite, moving your center rest usually will let you know. Just make sure you adjust your nocking point if needed and test BEFORE changing your center rest

May not be your problem but I have been having problems with erratic broadhead flight. Mine were hitting left 5 " @ 30 yards. I messed with form, rest etc for 2 weeks and found out the one broadhead I was practicing with was my whole problem. Put it on another arrow and was 5" low each shot. Got out another arrow / broadhead and punching the center out @ 50 yards. I also shoot Montec 100 gr with replaceable blades, I placed the practice blades in each broad head / arrow combination and tested. All seven remaining arrows punch the center out @ 50 yards. I just happened to pick the messed up one to shoot & practice. My bow was paper tuned, all arrows spun test etc, just a funky flying broadhead that won't fly true on any arrow. So check all broadheads. Mike

That's why a person should always spin your arrow and check to make sure the broadhead tip doesn't wobble at all.   It it does, don't use it!

That's why a person should always spin your arrow and check to make sure the broadhead tip doesn't wobble at all.   It it does, don't use it!

I don't think you should just toss a broadhead that wobbles.  It may not be the head that is causing the wobble.  It could be that the arrow wasn't cut quite square.  That was my case.

I had spun tested and adjusted all of my arrows and had them perfect. This one broadhead flies bad, I think it is spiraling my arrow. My other seven fly sweet. I was just recommending to shoot all & confirm good flight from each not just shoot one. Just think if I had chosen another and hunted with the bad one because it spun fine. Mike
