Drop Away ???
«
on:
August 25, 2009, 09:37:46 AM »
This is the current Trophy Taker rest I have.
http://www.trophytaker.com/xtremefc_ts.aspx
No matter what I do I am still getting fletching contact with my rest. My season starts soon and now I'm back to square one. I am going to buy a new/different rest today after work. Can anyone recommend a good rest that I can buy that wont give me the problems I have right now. Would love to find one that doesn't give me fletching contact. Thanks for any advice.

not sure about the full containment rest from Trophy Taker, but with the Pronghorn or shaky hunter rest, if you are getting fletching contact with either of those, you do not have it set up right as far as when it actually drops.

I am using the NAP Sizzor. I really like it! Holds onto the arrow and you can let down your bow without triggering the rest to open. Very easy to tune and has cleared everything I have shot through it including Fobs.

Look on the lower right under videos and select Sizzor.

I have never used the full containment for this reason; more surface area to contact. Is the contact on the bottom or top?
I have the shakey hunter and have never had contact issues. I have heard good things about the drop zone or ripcord but haven't used.

The contact your getting could be from a number of different reasons. Likely there is too much slack in the drop away cord that attaches to the cable. The arrow rest should be all the way up for hte last 1.5 to 2 inches of draw. That would be my first guess. Second pull the cord and check to see that the arrow is level and close to a 90 degree angle with the string. while it is up look at the berger hole (one the rest attaches to the bow) the arrow should be centered with the hole or a pinch higher. its gonna be one of those two things.

I shoot the same rest and love it. Shoots a perfect hole on paper and shuts broad heads like my field points. My bow is PSE X FORCE 6" brace height shooting blazers 408 grains 65 lbs. 390 ft. sec. Your rest should be at upright position the last 1 inch. to 1.5 inch. of draw.

Scott,
I like to run the arrow high in the Berger button hole...where the bottom of the arrow shaft is about through the center of the hole...on the X-Forces this allows them to have more clearance across the shelf and the rest area since they have a low Berger button hole anyway.
Other than that, time the rest so that it comes up at the very last part of the draw and start your tuning. Many of the X-Forces tune very easily with our rest...occasionally one will be a hassle...lets hope yours is one of the easy ones. Get it set up and then if there is an issue, give us a call. Good luck!
Sincerely,

did a guy actually claim that a 65lb bow shot 390fps. i would pay to see that! maybe its a type o. as far as the rest issue, i use the g5 and cant believe how well it shoots, trophy taker makes a lot of rests and are usually real good. wondering if the spring is wore out or gummed up. has the cord moved up the string, making the rest not come all the way up.

two things it could be. its not coming up high enough or it is coming up way to soon , so it drops late. there is nothing else to it... u hope
