07 archery buck
« on: December 12, 2007, 08:34:22 AM »
Here is this years archery buck, what do ya think ? I used the method P-Bear described in the skull brightening thread and added the shed. Probabally should have used a 4pt shed.

That loks very good with the addition of the thread.  The brightness of the skull is very good as well, at least what can be seen in the picture.  Very Nice.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

Thats Nice! Great job on the skull.  How did you clean the skull?  Boil?

Can you post a picture of the side and back.  Curious how you attached the shed to the skull!

Sorry Michelle, Yea I boiled it. I drilled 2 holes through the shed put some wood backing inside the skull and ran 2 1 5/8" sheetrock screws in to secure it. Used a wire d loop and ran a screw straight into the skull ( just below where the head attatches to the vertabra ) to mount to the wall.

I think that looks pretty nice!  I can see what you are saying when attaching the antler to the skull.

Did you loose any of the inner nasal bones when you boiled the skull?

No,  but I busted the end of the nose off while pressure washing it.  :bash:

You should've saved it.  They will super glue right back on.  I did that with the very first one I ever did and have been really careful ever since.  Remember if anything breaks or falls off in the process, save it and glue it on later.  Still looks great!

Looks like the same thing happened to a couple of M_Rays mounts.  :dunno:

I actually did save them ,I forgot I had set them on the fender of my driftboat trailer. Now I have to bleach them and give it a try. Thanks MuleySlyr
