West Baker 4-4 Mountain Goat
« on: August 25, 2009, 10:07:27 PM »
Hey Everyone, We made one more Scouting trip before the season opens. Our mission was to locate a base camp and find more Billy's! We found a great place to make camp with a natural wind break and water with in a 100 yards. We spotted 32 Goats Saturday and of those three were new Billy's. One Billy we spotted last week and spent some time watching him again in a very inaccessible area. I will try to show photo's of what I mean. He's a real whopper! Weather was good and had another super day with my son Tyler. We look forward to Labor Day weekend and spending more quality time together!

I'm having trouble ldownloading again but the billy is sitting to the right of the upper mud slide. I will try to load the close ups if possible.

Here's a pic of 2 of those billies about 100 yards below where that billy is.

I don't know about him being completely inaccessible, it's hard to say without doing some scouting of him.  I think you could probably get to him from below, but good luck getting within bow range from below a billy.  The real question is whether or not you could get around above the billy and stalk him from above, and it looks difficult at best.

I am with AK if that goat has good horns it is very accessible. the one thing about goat hunting is where are we able and wanting to go. That is what divides guys with the big billies and the guys with the nannies. Just take your time and make it happen it will be all Worth it if hes a dandy!
work hard and reap the reward or dont and get left behind!!!
