Honkers around Tri-Cities?
« on: December 12, 2007, 07:04:57 PM »
Has anyone seen any Pend Oreille Honkers migrating into Tri-Cities yet?  I'll be glad to get my geese this Saturday but the lessers aren't nearly as big or difficult to knock down.

Not sure, my guess would be pretty tough on the public ground and fair to decent on the private stuff.  Too many guides and not enough public ground to keep the average joes spread apart.
hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

Several groups of lessers in the morning but none were within' range.  We waited until 1 before we got any.  We knocked down 13 - 2 ran off or flew, 7 honkers, and 4 lessers of a couple different subspecies.  It took some patience as there were less birds this year and it was a bluebird morning.  Pictures to follow.

A big thanks to Columbia Basin Waterfowl

Craig and Alex(and Steve) are great guys.  No tooting their own horn every day on the internet, just flat out goose killers.

We've been going with Craig since '95 and every year has been a blast.  He brings them in to stones throw to let you unload on 'em.  He brought in 4 or 5 flocks in and I knocked one to two down every time.  The Model 870 is a darn good gun.  It didn't jam on 3 1/2" shells like a couple of the other shotguns.

I'm hoping you didn't shoot more than 4 birds... My math tells me you must've if you were shooting 1 or 2 on each of 4 or 5 go's.  And if you did, posting about it on the internet isn't a good idea.

I'll have to look that one up in the regs because you never know how many out of 6 hunters may have shot at the same bird.  All I know is I aimed, several of us shot, and it fell.  In every flock we shot down several birds.

I suppose you could look at it like sackin' the QB.  Maybe I got 1/2 of each one.  Thanks for the info and I'll look it up in the regs.

I couldn't find anything in the regs stating that each hunter in a party of hunters had to stop hunting after shooting at a limit of birds.   I figure it must be similar to fishing out of a boat - three people fishing then 3 limits in the boat.

If anyone knows differently then let me know.  Thanks
