Want to fish the Puy next weekend...
« on: August 30, 2009, 04:28:36 PM »
Will be camping up at lake cushman next weekend and would like to get in on the pink action on the puyallup or somewhere closer to cushman. Not sure where to fish or how to get where the fish are. I know it flows through tacoma/fife area but not sure where the productive zones are. Any help would be appreciated.

Going to fish the skok also but not to excited about booted up old nooks that have been snagged for a month.

Honestly,
ANYWHERE on the river right now is great! It is so full of fish you will have no problem catching them

Only problem is i have no clue where to try and fish. I have never tried to fish it as i live in SW WA. Do i go to fife and pull off and fish right there??? Or is there certain places up higher that fish better than in town.

Take the Puyallup exit off I-5.  This will put you onto River rd.  Stay on it for a couple miles and eventually you will see a bunch of soccer fields on your right hand side.  You will see a butt load of other cars parked along the road there.  Join them.  Guys will be all over the river here.
I don't know if there is an impact on the fishing or not, but the indians are netting on the lower river on sundays.  To be safe, I would try on saturday.  Have fun.

Any place along river road or the opposite side( Levee Rd.) where you can gain access, there's so many fish that I caught 10-15 on Friday and when we left the nets were in. If you'r looking to just get a limit and get out it'll take you about a half hour, I hung around for 3 hours this morning and probably landed 15 or so.

I have never fished for pinks either and would like to try? What is everyone using for a setup? And what is the limit? thanks for the info.
