is that southwest of nordman, ID and not too far from a little lake?.

I know of a few areas that hold stupid amounts of moose. we see 100 to 1 moose over elk here in spokane area. they are pretty much a pain in the butt for us.

I was glassing a hill in december and could see 9 respectable bulls at one time in my spotter......a couple were dandys. One thing for sure if I get drawn it will be a score for sure.

Thats actually North of Nordman.  Moose all around there though.  I would love to see that many bulls at that time of year.  It would have shed hunting written all over it.

I suppose, as long as you promise to shoot it next to a road.

Thank you!  Are you guys getting sick of moose pics yet?
I was questioning my sanity with this little guy.  He was camped on a cow and would't budge, so I decided to go to him to see if I could get some pics.  This picture was taken on 1x or less than real life so to speak, and I was a long ways from the nearest tree.  I hadn't expected him to come quite that fast since he had been holding steady.  I guess I could have pummeled him with my camera.

I can tell you what was going throgh my mind when I took this picture.  I was like UNBELIEVABLE.  I can't believe this just happened.  I'm not sure Idabooner was thinking anything at this point.  I did tell him to hold on after I took this picture as another moose was coming in and I started talking to him.  I think the quote was "Knock that crap off, we don't need another one in here."  I of course didn't listen and thats when the previous bull from page one or back there a ways came in.

He didn't get very far during the time I was messing with that other bull.  I guess if I had shot a moose of a lifetime, I would have sat and taken it in a bit. :)

The little guy walked so close to me I could have touched him with my rifle, he never knew I was there, he was to busy keeping track of Boneaddict, a few minuets later I think he heard the big guy coming because he just turned and walked off.
I was thinking what a nice one, then I started to realize what had just taken place and that the  fun was over.

That's one fine looking animal. If I am ever blessed with the chance to go after a moose you can bet that I will make a campaign of it and will have the time of my life. It's inspiring to see your photos because it lets the rest of the folks who will keep putting in year after year know that they might still have a chance to taste some Washington Moose.

I'd say it's a good day when you can be surrounded by magnificent and tasty creatures like those. As long as they don't get too close and do any damage that is :)

I can honestly say that any moose looks big at 15 feet.  This bull will always be shaded in a little gray for me.  I thought he was a heck of a lot bigger.  This is my Idaho bull.  I stepped out of the truck and gave a bull grunt into this very nice looking basin, right on the Washington line.  NOTHING.  I decided to give a cow call, and got an instant answer.  I ran back to the truck and grabbed the 06, and told Dad what was happening.  I ran up this skid road and got into position.  I cow called again, and here he come.  He was actually in Washington when he started my way.  Just like on a string, here he come.  I had two shooting lanes, one down each direction of the skid trail.  He kept calling.  Whenever he would stop I would utter a little girlie music, and here he come.  It was tremendously thick, and he just bulldozed his way through.  That is an incredible exhiliration, by  the way.  I got a glimpse of antler and saw palm, and he looked to be fairly wide.  I was afraid he was going to wind me as he was at about 15 feet charging by me in the thick stuff.  I saw an opening you could fit a popcan through and when I saw black shoulder, I touched off the 06.  He whirled, ran about 30 feet and dropped.  We gave him a second or two, then I could hear movement as he was walking away.  I thought no way.  I tried calling, but nothing, he was going DOWN THE HILL.  Those are swear words in moose hunting.  I went after him.  "He just kept going"  I thought NO WAY, so I went back to where he was when I shot.  We started tracking.  I went to right where I thought he dropped and THERE HE WAS.  There had been two bulls.  What I can determine is they had just fought.  He had two broken tines and a bloodied ear.  He whooped the dudes butt, then came in for the spoils.  In this instance, its why he came to a cow call, but totally ignored another bull grunt.  Now the gray area.  It was a tremendous hunt, with my Dad at my side, but I had shot a smaller bull.  I didn't think that much of it as I thought I could hunt them again in 7 years.  Idaho IS a once in a lifetime state like Washington , ONLY if you are succesful.  You can hunt them again after a waiting period if you don't fill your tag.  That will teach me to read my regs better.  The hunt was awesome and I won't ever forget the good times.  We got the big one the next year that we had been after, so it turned out.

That panhandle is extremely thick stuff.  I had several bulls RIGHT in front of me, but couldn't see them.

my hands are covering up the whites of both broken points, but you can see his freshly split ear on the left side looking at it.
