After a 1 hr walk 2.5-3 miles on gated DNR road I arrived at my clearcut about an hour before dark,  Seen a few bears there in the past.  Im there 5 min and some quad riding jerk goes flying down the road.  I still saw a few deer but no bears.  But it sucks and always happens.  >:(

P.S. If you leave your quad and your not supposed to be there your tires might end up flat :dunno:

hornhunter,  what area was this? You say it was a DNR road, was there a sign saying no motorized vehicles? If not it may have been legal for that person to be behind that gate on the ATV.

Bobcat there were signs everywhere! Also NO Target Shooting signs everywhere.  There was some target shooting going on as well.

Someone hiked in 3 miles to target shoot? Or rode their quads in to target shoot? Probably an easier way in you don't know about.

I really hate these quad threads. Adapt to them and change tactics. There's still plenty of ground to hunt where the quads cant/wont go.

Did you guys work on the Obama campaign.  We should all drive smart cars or hangout at hemp fest.  Stop whinning about others who enjoy the great outdoors, to each his own, if you dont like it hike further away and find low populated areas. You can always find spots with nobody around, do your homework this state has lots of wilderness inaccessable to motorized vehicles.  Messing with other peoples property when they are nowhere around sounds like a coward punk move to me, no better than your average thug breaking into cars and homes, most of these guys are blue collar working hard for every dollar they have.  You give hunters a bad name.

The problem is that too many quad owners spoil it for those us who are also trying to enjoy the outdoors. Besides, it's not exactly a granola vs hunter issue given that many hunter organizations have spoken loudly against ATV abuse.

Most Places I hunt, I would dare a quad or some fat lazy road hunting quad rider to go.  I was on an Saturday evenig walk.  The signs clearly say No Motorized Vehicles.  I wont be going back to this location your right Gutpile. MOST quad riding hunters are more into the quad riding than the hunting.  I will say it again, if I stumble across a quad unattended in an area closed to motorized vehicles and it has flat tires of no gas I wont be surprised.  I have NO issue with quad riders in country open to that sort of thing.  In fact I have used quads in areas open to them.  But, closed roads are another thing.   :twocents:

Another point that may not be thought of and I was just talking about it to another moderator.....
enforcement down here uses quads all the time, and they may use them where normal folks can't, even DNR guys.   It would be interesting if they caught you doing a back country tune-up, which I don't condone by the way, to one of their vehicles.

If you are in an  area this happens alot, report it...suggest a hidden camera.  They nailed illegal shed hunters down here this year with them.  Got the quad on film withthe guy riding it in an illegal area shed hunting where he shouldn't be at oak creek.  I bet that cost some money.  May have even lost his ride.

You guys keep this thread going much longer and were going to have bobcatbess from monster muleys on here pretty soon explaining how he does high country tune ups.     :chuckle:

Part of the problem - joy, (depending on your point of view) is that 20 years ago we had under powerd 3 wheelers, heavy short track sleds, now look at what is available on the market and where they can go ???      conflicts are bound to occur.   :twocents:

I went hunting with my dad in Cle Elum sat and we had just watched 5 deer (with 2 bucks) about 1/2 mi in from the road and decided to pass on the larger 3 pt and we hear WHaAAAAAAAA WHAAAAAAAAAA WHAAAAAAAAAAA about 100 yrds away, some *censored*es on quads went storming thru the woods and ruined the hunt. >:( >:(

I have no problem with quads in general (I don't have any BTW), but once you get to your spot get the hell off of them and hunt.

Wardens need to write these guys tickets that are riding in areas that are off limits, instead of writing WDFW hates me a ticket for fishing with his kids!

I was in the blues this weekend and it looked like a damn quade convention, disgusting, bow hunters running around on quads, tearing down roads and trails acting like they were hunting, I guess the method is to run around the animals until you find one thats to tired to run any more, stick um and then act like they did something special cus they used a bow. F%@$*!g disgusting and its going to cost all of us in the long run.
