Hey guys,

how do you guys feel about Kent ammunition? I've been using Black Cloud but man the Kent ammo looks quite a bit cheaper!

It's definetly a lot cheaper, but at the same time you will get what you pay for. I've never been real thrilled with Kent. My buddy shoots it all the time but he couldn't hit the ground if he fell off a horse. My personal favorite is the Winchester Xpress Steel. Seems to fly true and hold to its pattern. Not too expensive either. Kill way more birds with that than anything. If you like Black Cloud, wait til the end of the season and WalMart always has a ton of overstock. The mark it at almost 1/2 off. I bought 10 boxes of 31/2" BBB in February for $145.

I've used Kent's for years...I love em... but it seem's about 1 shell outta 50 is a dud.

All of us at Ragged Outdoors shoot Kent and have for many years. Speed Kills!!!

I have been shooting Kent for years. Very consistent, keep it dry and it will perform well for you. I typically shoot the 3" #2's or BB's at the 1550 fps. Shot over 3 cases of it last year at ducks. I have another 4 cases of it sitting in my office. Picked up 4 cases of Black Cloud as well to try out this season as well.

I think I'll go ahead and buy a case then. I want to start shooting 3 1/2". My gun can handle it, may as well shoot it?

The difference is roughly $60/case, so it's worth asking about.

Kent is decent stuff. 3 1/2 is kinda a waste in my IMO. The stuff I've patterned didn't justify the cost. I would suggest shooting 3" stuff in Kent for 75% of shooting and then getting some good tung alloy for the long range stuff.

I have been using Kent for years myself. I love them. I even tore a number 2 apart and compared the shot with a winchester X-press #2 and there was no difference in shot appearance. I use 2 3/4 inch #2's shooting out of a blind, and 3 inch bb's pass shooting. Can't beat them for the price. Good Luck. John

I'm not trying to be a Smart Ass but how does one go through 3 cases of shot shells in one season? If you half as good a shot as me that's 190 ducks. I average around two shells per duck and have done as high as 20 ducks per box of shells, I ususally have to cut my daily limit to just a couple of bird because I can't eat them fast enough to stay in the posession limit.

If you hunt almost everyday of the season you can go through a few cases. 109 day season.

I shoot a lot of them too. 3 inch #2 for ducks and the 1625 3 1/2 #2 for geese.

I usually hunt everything with steel, upland birds and waterfowl. If you take out kids and friends it is easy to go through the shells. I like kent fasteel been using it for ahwhile. I also like winchester and remington loads. I use a choke and I can make the cheap ammo kill ducks too.

I quit using the cheap shell. Remington used to sell a 1 oz load. If the birds were on the outside of the spread you would hear the pellets hit the bird. It would push the bird side ways and then keep flying. Finished up the case I had purchased for swatter loads for wounded birds and trap shooting.

Kent Fasteel™ is THE BEST STEEL LOAD AVAILABLE IMHO. It is high performance ammunition at a very reasonable price. It's the only steel ammo my son & I use for waterfowling.

I use Kent for upland where steel is required. Hunting trips for ducks and geese are pricey with the cost of gas and lodging and the 300 mile round trips, so I usually go with hevishot/hevisteel.

I've shot plenty of Winchester, Remington, Federal, Fiocchi, Hevi-Shot and Bismuth. For the price Kent is money. I get the best pattern out of my Benelli SBEII and it is leathal on the birds. I don't shoot the more expensive ammo as I am not shooting the farther distances where it may be noticably different. I don't loose many birds and have minimal crippling with the Kent. Why change? Good shells to try. I try to use the same load all season, so you have your lead, pattern and speed down. This helps tremendously on the accuracy side as well, on the one factory you can control.

Kent Fasteel is by far the best load out there for the price from quail to geese....I hunt almost everyday of the season and I'm shooting them almost every time......2 /34" #4's for ducks..and 3" 1/8 BB/2 for geese and 3rd shell late season green

I love the 4's for pheasants as well

don't even think about wasting your time with remington or winchester xperts (if shot size is over #6)

I've used it for a few years and as long I do my job it works great, no misfires, patterns fine and I like the speed.
