It is my understanding they are not looking to thin the herd to a healthy number, they would be more then happy to eliminate them, at least that used to be the reasoning several years ago.  I was asked back in 2000 to start the original work for the harvest of the deer and then luckily for me they decided to have CE take over setting up the OIs and coordinating with the WDFW folks.  I was about to retire the following spring so I was happy to have that additional duty taken off my plate.  :)

Well, I got selected.  One out of five.  But, we are being assigned a date and section we can hunt.  I hope it's either next Thursday or Friday since those are the days I'm taking leave for the last 2 days of the season.  Maybe I'll stick a deer before then.

So I get a phone call stating that my assigned day is tomorrow.  Yes, tomorrow!  And that I could not reschedule.  So I declined it since I am in training all day tomorrow plus it was to late to take leave even if I wasn't busy.  So I would only be able to hunt from about 5 til 7:30 pm.  Did I mention there is a $10 permit fee?  Needless to say, I declined.  I'll stick to state land that I can hunt for free any day I choose.

Tons of HUGE BT on Bangor.  I worked out there for about 3 years a few years back and the bucks that would come out in Nov. were awesome!!! Huge 5x5's running around bunches of does and running off 3x3's..  Awesome sight.
