just got a call from my buddie ray. i gave him my honey hole for the season sense im not gonna be hunting archery elk this season. it was his first year hunting elk, along with his brother in-law. he and his brother in-law both got thier elk right out of my spot. one cow and a 1x2 (unit 336).
they didnt really give me much story to tell. after 3 days of hunting teanaway and not seeing a spike, and hardly any elk for that matter. ray gave me a call at 3:30am this monring asking if i knew any spot that would have elk. so i told him where to go, which direction to come into the area, where to sit, what to eat, when to breath...the whole 9 yards. it only took 30 minutes after first light this morning and ray took a cow at 20yds, it didnt run more then 30yds i guess. while packing the elk out, which was 5 trips 1/4mile walk one way. they jumped a couple deer, which turned out to be a group of elk. so his bro in-law ran back and grabbed his bow. and after 1 hour of stalking and getting busted he took a 1x2 at 40ish yards, ran about 200yds before finally taking its last breathe
its awesome to halp a couple first time elk hunters into getting both thier first elk. and in one day for that matter.
but man it kills me that it should have been me. that should have been my 1x2 come modern firearm season.

they both visit this site as guests. so hopefully they will join and post pics and the full storys.
