archery late season for elk

hello all i was just wondering what type of tactics i would need to change from early season to late season for archery for elk in the yakima area. this is my first year archery and am already starting to think about late season and start to plan. even though my car may or may not make it due to the accident... such as calling techniques and or do they move much in the day time since it is early winterish. im just wondering because i dont know and any help would be awsome thanks!

Toss the bugle and stick to cow and calf calls.  Elk wont be nearly as vocal.

now how often would i cow/calf call? every once in awhile?

Depends on how much to call.  As I enter a fresh area I would let out a lost calf cow a few times followed by a cow call.

My experience in the late season over in the Nile unit is the elk have been hunted hard for 3 months and they are extremely call shy.  I have watched guys cow call and the elk turn and run the other way.  I have successfully called in elk a couple times in the late season but I prefer spot and stalk.  If it is cold they will be on benches and hill sides facing the sun.  If there is no snow you will want to go up high.
