I heard alot the day before elk season opened in the Coweeman unit, virtually none since then. Last year they were bugling full speed at this time :dunno:
Good luck.

People think the rut is dependent upon the moon phase, or the weather.  They are wrong.  The deciding factor is when the cows come into their estrus cycle.  :twocents:

Believe it or not but the estrus cycle is determined by "LIGHT". Biologist or Scientist whoever have kept deer in a light controlled environment and staved of estrus by controlling the light. So the rut is actually affected by the amount of light. Learn something new everyday!!!

Oh and by the way the Bulls in Nooksack are going absolutley garbonzo!!!!! Bellowing their stinking guts out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rut may not be decided by the moon phase or weather but the amount of talking going on can have a close relationship to these. Full moon and hot, they go more at night... cloudy and cool and it's more likely to ba all day long.
