Lincoln Cliffs Help
« on: September 15, 2009, 08:16:30 AM »
I was hoping to get up to the Lincoln Cliffs to try to get some sheep pictures.  I have never been up there before, does anyone have any information on where to concentrate my search?  Thanks in advance.

Sterling Valley has a house with a wooden carving of a ram out in front. I've heard from our neighbors that they will actually come down and head but this guy sometimes.

The rest of the herd like bowhunterforever mentioned is usually down by the boat launch just as you pass the water tower. Usually early morning and later afternoon you see them crossing the road.

That is an awesome offer.  I sure appreciate all of the help.  I don't have a date set in stone, but I'll give you a heads up when I do.  It sounds like I'll have to do it during the rut.

The rams are usually there I think all season, not necessarily a rut mandatory situation.

Is there a tag for there?  That sometimes screws it up, at least in other locals.

I went for a little road trip with the girls today.  We did some glassing from the bottom of the cliffs, but didn't see any decent rams.  I wanted to get an idea of the terrain for a future trip by myself.  I had the baby backpack with me, but it was a little to steep for the three year old and I would have been uncomfortable carrying her into some of the areas I would want to go.

Thanks to swanny and bowhuntforever for the directions.  As you can see from the pics it was exactly as you said it would be.
