Method of Hunting Deer

Which method works best for which type of deer? I find sitting or a tree stand most effective for whitetail and stalking for Mule Deer.

Of course it would depend on the terrain. Here I hike to certain high vantage points and glass for long periods of time. In Montana we drive long distances and stop to glass large areas and long deep draws. Good optics and a reliable vehicle are a must if your going to be picky, you need to cover miles and miles of open country.

i think spot and stalk is the most fun and challenging method i've used so far.
i grew up hunting from a treestand, which gets very old very quick IMO. i suffer from a lack of the kind of patience required to do that, plus my feet get too cold.

I love the spot and stalk then a tree stand. A tree stand at least keeps me in one spot! if I'm on the ground sitting or in a blind I get too impatient and I feel like I have to move.

I like to stalk muleys and tree stand hunt travel routes near bedding areas for whitetails.
Up here Ive found I can often get away with deer hunting from the ground. Head out east and ya better find a climber!
Hard to argue with getting your scent 25 feet up a tree and out of reach of most deer noses and I love watching the deer Im gonna harvest for 30 minutes within 75 yards before shooting him when Im ready and have fully decided his worth. Its amazing being that close with full visibility and they have no idea you are there!
Ive also had several herds of elk under my tree this year...that was new and even cooler than deer... I killed my elk with a bow from a tree but probably never gonna be a primary method for elk.

I dont really like to sit all day but I think that it is very effective. Ive had more luck sitting still than with stalking. I have a hard time trying not to snap branches while walking and keeping my eyes peeled for blackies

Spot and stalk muleys
Still/stand hunting for whiteys works best. They usually live in areas that are very hard to do stalks in although i have tried it.
