Bucklucky's real "Pisscutter" freezer filler! YUM YUM!!
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:32:41 AM »
Well, I had a great elk season again this year, killed my smallest bull but what can you do in a spike only area  8) Anyway, we hunted the Alpine Lakes with absolutely no success at even finding a fresh track so we pulled camp that we had 5-6 miles in and headed to my honey hole  ;)

We have been working on my wifes bugling a bit and it really shows. She is getting pretty good blowing a reed. Bugled and cow called in a nice heavy horned 340 7x6. She was pretty stoked! I ended up calling in a few descent bulls also trying to get a little spike to come in. One bull was a dandy young bull, Id say he looked like a 3-4 year old bull with great potential. He was only a 5x6 but man, what a 5x6 he was. The first 3 points on both sides were between 18-20 inches long  :yike: He would go between 340 and 350 !! Anyway ended up calling in another 6x6 to 5 yards dripping with mud and fired up! Stupid satelite! Once he left I had another bull bugle from 100 yards away  and he came crashing in, I figured he would be a little 4 or 5 but to our surprise it was my spike. Came in on a string, wife was next to me and ganged him when I stopped him. With a little mis comunication on yardage (I thought she said 51 and it was actually 54 )  I had a perfect heart shot and he went 30 yards and expired!

Dang Charlie,

You actually look pretty sexy in camo and no BEARD!!!!!

LMAO, congrats on the hunt.. So I am curious, you are saying the spike bugled?? I have been asked that question numerous times, and I have no answer. Never had a spike come in, just bigger bulls and cows.

Ya man, he bugled about like a little 4 or 5 would , he had been wallowing earlier too. He had dry mud all over and a few patches that were still pure mud. We were surprised when it was a spike and not a branch bull  :chuckle:

Ya man , that alpine sucked. I dont know if I will waist my time in there again.

Women packing out elk racks.  You and LTL could start a calendar or something this year.  Congrats on what sounds like a great hunt and time spent with your better half.   :whoo:

Yeah, it could be called Racks packin Racks... :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
