saylean archery hunt part 2
« on: September 21, 2009, 12:43:47 PM »
Well boys and girls, I couldnt close the deal this time around. But still, I had a wonderful time.

Below are some vids I took of calling in a 6x6 who originally was 400 yards off with some cows. I called him into 10 ft, using my Little Dog Coyote Howler and my Sceery Rabbit distress to imitate the bugle and cow calls respectively before scaring him off.

I call this bull, "chuckles" as he had a very unique bugle and almost always chuckled near the end or just for the hell of it. I have some video of me actually using the howler,  but the audio is a bit poor, so you cant really here the bull respond all that well.

I had a cow put here head in my blind and smell me, at about 3ft, that was exciting. Saw tons of game, but just couldnt pull it off...next time!

This first video, we just bugled back and forth and he trashed that tree at about 20 seconds into it. He is in the tree line

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This second video he really didnt like it when I combined a bugle with cow calls (his cows were calling in the trees, I think he was getting jealous).

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Third vid....

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Final vid, notice the drool comming off his lips.. ;)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I am about 75% sure I jumped a cougar, but couldnt tell 100%.

And here are some turkeys I ran into...

He never left the gulley area that day. I left and had lunch after I scared him off...he didnt go far. I come back and he caught me in the road, making rubs, grinding his antlers and chasin the cows around...I was stuck though, I couldnt get the camera out.

Dang, If that came in when I where I was elk hunting for 2 weeks, You would've seen a pic of me and that bull, and I'd be the one with a big grin on my face.  :chuckle:  Nice vids.

You had a great season despite not filling your tag.  Great stories for sure.

I completely agree. I had my chances at elk, blew it, but still really enjoyed myself. Plus...still got deer/bear season going on!
