Need help patching Neoprene

 How would you patch these waders??
 I've wrecked a couple pair tiring to patch them. I know a couple things you don't want to do

Hot melt some glue. I use to use some rod repair glue on mine.

i'd just throw some aquaseal on there and call it good.

Depending on the amount of time you will let them cure, IE: don't expect to use them for a week.... here is what I do:

I gently sew a few threads across the gap, and slightly pull them together. Use an alcohol wound wipe (or similar) to clean the repair area. I then apply polyurethane flashing sealant (caulking gun tube of stuff from Home Depot $5-6per tube) liberaly on both the inside and the outside of the repair, making sure that it pushes into the gap.  Let this stuff cure a week or longer if you can wait. Not the prettiest repair, but very durable.  Polyurethane is the same stuff they glue windshields into you car with and when cured is bulletproof. While you are at the repair, you can also spread this stuff lightly across other areas you suspect are getting thin or worn thru, fix your kids shoes, leaky gutters, what ever, since once you open the tube, there ain't no stopping the entire tube from curing off. Use it or lose it.

Go to www.nrsweb.com and search aquaseal and you will see the tube that most of us use. I'm a helicopter rescue swimmer in the Coast Guard and we always have a case of this in the swimmer shop. This is good stuff.

Thanks, just checked them out. Your Aquaseal is Urethane, same stuff I was recommending. I bit cheaper to buy in the caulking tube from the hardware store. Please tell me you aren't paying $21bucks a tube for that stuff.

Not sure what we are paying. I'm pretty sure we are not paying $21 per tube.Once you open the tube or caulking tube they do not store well. They will dry up. All you will need is a small tube for waders.

 do you use the McNett Cotol Accelerator & Cleaner? The waders are the 1600 from Cabela's and like new except for that spot.

No. The tube we use is only one part and does not require accelerator.

We have used this stuff on wet suits, neoprene waders, etc. with great success. Glue it, then stitch it, then glue it again but this time as you apply the glue put the seam tape on it then you're done.

The glue in the link can be bought at all dive shops. It goes by a variety of names: wet suit glue, black glue etc.
