reloading 22 hornet
« on: September 26, 2009, 10:57:25 AM »
running into a few problems getting an accurate loads for the hornet. When I bought the gun a started out with hornady 35gr V max in factory loads. One hole shooter. Now I have tried to duplicate with no luck at all. Tried forty grain had a little better result. For the most part I am new to reloading so I still have a lot to learn. I am using H110 which I have read that guys using this powder started using pistol primers to get a more evenly burnt powder rate since some of the smaller rifle dont have the strongest firing pin.

Send MHWash a PM. He's been working up some loads for his hornet. Maybe he can help.

thanks I will do that. I did some shooting at 50 yards tonight with some better results. I shot 2 clover leaf groups with the 40 grain v max. And two slightly bigger groups with 55 sierra fmj that I had laying around so I thought I would shoot a couple to see how they did. I am happy with the groups of the 40 grains shooting 9.8gr of h110. plus I trimmed the brass down a bit and shortened the coal a bit. Man these are hard guns to make a load for. Very picky.

I have not had much time to work up loads for the Hornet. I been working on other rifles for now. I just sold my Encore frame, so no more Hornet until I get another rifle.

This thread has some good info in it.
