Need help for my brother for elk during modern firearm Season....
« on: September 28, 2009, 11:44:30 AM »
I've been looking at this website for some time now and have register but this is only my second time posting. Although i know the NE corner has been talked a lot I would just like advices about the elk in the NE corner to help my brother with his first modern firearm elk hunt. For the first time, I've seen some bull and some cows during archery season in the NE corner, but was wondering do the elk in the NE corner stay where they rut or do they leave the area when the temperature drops? Any advice that will help my brother have a good elk hunt will be appreciated.

They are HIGHLY mobile, even when unmolested they can be on a mountain one day and 10 miles away the next day.  Or they can be right where you saw them during the archery season.  I've seen it both ways.  If you saw them during the archery season that would be a good place for him to start scouting.

Thxs for the advice Machias. I have scouted these elk even before archery started but haven't had time to scout them after that due to school so was just wondering. Have seen two really nice bull with about 6 or 7 cows. So was just curious if one of the bull will chase out the other one during the rut, because the rut didn't really start until the last day of archery season in the NE corner.
