Well, VarmintVentilator and I made it out again today for yet another bout with high winds and some new country. We saw a total of 7 or 8 dogs. We both shot at one at 293 yards but missed, then a short time later the little female followed on the same trail and stopped broadside for a lasered 296 yards I hunkered down behind the 6.8 SPC and sent a 110 gr. V-Max her way which dropped her stone dead where she stood, finally breaking my no kill hits for some time. Later on in the morning we had two come within 20 yards and one of those came within about 20 feet of us which took us both by surprise
Next time I'm taking a shotgun along too, this has happened way too often and they get gone too fast to hit with a scoped rifle when we hunt the trees.
SO in all we had a good day, here is a snapshot of the little Missy that should not have decided to stop for a look at the country side.
She was standing just about where I put the black dot in this photo.

Hey Bull, Big10
Thanks
Yeah, it feels good to finally put fur on the ground and keep it there. I won't tell ya about the other one I'm pretty sure I cracked in the tush as he was leaving today or the other two I missed due to bad guesses on distance or the wind, but hey at least I did more shooting than VarmintVentilator
Now he's whining about getting to shoot the next one
Wellllllll we'll just have to see about that
He looks happy now but wait....
Good luck to you and Big10 this weekend too.

Nice coyote but I am jelouse you did better than I - I missed five coyotes today. I hit two of them and they started biting themself and then took off. I put on a new scope yesterday that I got at the sportsman show in Portland and was hitting good at 200yds but I guess I am going to have to put the old scope back on.
either that or wait for my glasses to come it the mail. I saw a total of 14 coyotes today but most were a half-mile or more out.

Lookin good guys! Its been tough going for TDF. I have only made it out about 4 times in the new year. Last night we had one come in from about 1500 yards he stopped at about 600 and would not come any farther. Anyhow, keep it up it's nice to see that some people are killing some dogs.

1 for SBA, Here's a old male than came in looking for fight estimated in the low 30 lb range. His muzzle was all scabbed up from a earlier sparring match. He didn't come in downwind where I expected him so I had to turn, He spotted me and high tailed it out, So I aimed below his tail

Man Big 10, nice dog!!!! You guys seem to have all the big dogs up there. Have you had any problem using that 32gr v-max, splattering & not taking down the dogs?
