This year a friend of mine is new into the gun world and wants to find a bear/deer/elk.

Me, after 3 years of no deer want to find a bear/deer/elk, mostly deer after so much failure.

So like last year and the year before, looking for a not a guide guide (a hunting buddy that is okay with folks that don't know much). Want to learn, not a lot of money to put into a real guide... that and my guided fishing trips just seemed too weird for me (if that makes sense). Being a client is too weird.

Anyone got a camp with a spare seat or two?
Can provide all the gear I need, if I don't have something I bet I could find it. Will offer beer and dinner/lunch, gas money if the situation warrants (my general bribery). 10+ mile days arn't an issue (provided adequate beer breaks).

Modern rifle, anywhere in Washington, 3 weekdays max.

I can't speak for my friend, but I'm willing to be unarmed hunting buddy (help pack out) to just see how things are done.

My only reference for my demeanor is Bankwalker, he'll tell you I'm the nicest, funniest, most respectful person around... if he doesn't, he's lying.

And hopefully this summer another member will say the same, if he tells you I'm the laziest most worthless person at fishing... don't believe him.

save the beer till after hunting sitting around the campfire. no beer breaks while hunting.

Thanks to everyone that has gotten ahold of me and offered to let me join, I'm going to try to take as many of you up on your offers as possible.

My "scouting" this year has gone about as good as my hunting has these last few years, so any help is appreciated getting my buddy (redstar), mrs. uncool, or me on a deer.

Funny though.. It's disheartening how many beer cans and bottles I've seen in the darndest places in the mountains. Ok, I can sort of see it for loggin crews back in the 50's maybe. A hard days work then some brews before saddling up for the treck back to camp. Some of those were mobile camps with wall tents too. But I've seen lone bottles and cans up round the friggin tree line before. Not no logging camp. Do these things fall out of the sky? I dunno about the rest of you, but I drink beer nearly every day, but when I'm in the hills, that's the last thing I want to be weighed down with. I just don't get it.

Uncool.. Gimmie a PM where you've been scouting and how for BT and Bear, I'll see what I can lend your way.

I've done the 1 mile treck back to the lake because I couldn't account for every beer can I thought I brought in (later I remembered I had a trailhead beer and smoke and the empty ended up in my truck [I wasn't drinking it in the truck]).

I'm beginning to switch to scotch in a half liter platypus "bottle"

I'm the newbie hunting buddy he's talking about...

I've been pestering him with lots of questions... and I'm sure a few of you have read some of the stories I've posted of our adventures in grouse hunting this year. Even though we haven't got one yet, I've still been having a blast. And, I'm really looking forward to my first deer hunt this year regardless of the outcome. But deer is awfully tasty...

Uncool shared a few of the tips he'd gotten from you guys with me today, just wanted to say thanks for the help!
