Ravensdale Bull?
« on: October 04, 2009, 06:17:06 PM »
I was driving out to my in-laws yesterday between 12 and 1pm and saw a huge set of antlers sticking out of a trailer under the power lines across the street from the sub station. Anyone have any info on this bull? My in-laws neighbors said they have seen a big 6x6 a couple times out there recently. I should have stopped to check it out. Just curious if anyone has pics and a story.

Ya that herd of elk are normally seen in that same general area.  I havent paid much attention to it lately, but have seen that heard frequently.

Saw what looked to be a 6x4 in Covington late yesterday afternoon, was wondering if it was a local bull.  Kind of a neat rack.

It's possible you saw the same one. Wish I would have stopped and checked it out now.

I work for the railroad as a locomotive engineer. I worked the Auburn to Ellensburg run for a few years (2004-2006) and have seen ALOT of very impressive bulls just east of Covington all the way to Ravensdale. But the real scenery is when we would hit the watershed. The elk in the watershed are unbelievable. I alway buy an Eastern elk tag every year, but if I bought a western tag I know for sure that my first choice for a draw tag would be Green River unit 485. I have seen a whole lot of bulls in there that would make you deposit a certain dairy product in your Levi's.  :chuckle:

Kent,

Are there good numbers of big bulls in there "still"?? We used to go in there with fish and game and catch lions and collar them...back in the late 80's early 90's. There were a ton of huge bulls... there were also times when we'd have to sneak in from Stampede to get dogs out that ran bears in there.... However, come about Mid 90's the indians figured out all the big bulls were in there and wow.... it seemed to go to chit.....

Cedar Riv Shed used to be pretty good too!

The watershed still has some good bulls in it, but nothing like it used to be. We logged a job in there last year and one morn. going in we found a dead calf right in the main line that was still wet all ate to rat *censored*. The way I understand it the indians get a week, not sure if there is a qouta on them or not.
go ahead on er.

The mucks get to pick which week they want to hunt and them the season is set for the permit winners. They get to shoot as many elk as us, which is 3. They also get to hunt bear in there with dogs, you know like they did a hundred years ago :).
