Any guesses of this strange photo?

My dad got this photo a couple of weeks ago off the trailcam.  I have a hunch of what the photo is of, but it is a strange one.  Any guesses of what this could be?

There's something strange there because it appears that the corners of the eye are up and down.  Doesn't look like a bird to me.
