mt spokane youth cow down + extra wow

i want ot start by saying thankss to everone one here that helped with advise and tips and sorry for my bad spelling and etc as you read the story this is hard to beleive my name is matt the kid who had the tag is micha his older brother is mikey and there dad is mike we left on 10/04/09 arrvied in post falls idaho at 11:30pm set up camp quick a few storys and off to bed 5:15am up and headed to thompson creek unload 2 quads get pass to hunt iep 7:00 start up the road me and mikey in the front micha and mike in the back i went to go around a corner .90 miles back and caught something out of the corner of my eye that looked a bit off so i hit the break and rolled backward there up a skid trail 100 yards away was a cow moose standing in a willow looking strait at us i yelled kill her lol micha jumped off the 4 wheeler he is 13 and about 100lbs he took a rest and his brother wanted a broadside shot for him to take so we began the wait for her to turn mind you she is only 100 yards but at like a 70 degree uphill angle from the road 7:15am she turns and takes off almost out of site i do a cow call and she stops and looks back he lets the 300wsm with 180 win xp3 bark perfect shot i yell right threw the bottom of the first lung threw the top of the heart and out the top of the back lung she lunged forward about 10 yards and stoped i yelled hit her again he found her in the scope and barked out another round that puched her in the liver and lungs she tumbled with that shot and we went ballistic 13 years old 15 min into our first day and micha had never even got a deer or any big game animal in his life we got to the cow which i guessed to be 6 years old and around 650-700lbs what a sweet spot to kill her i said mikey went back down with his quad and got the truck mind you this was a very steep hill we were on i got the great idea lets give her a push from the tree she wasbehind o man did she get some good bounces in and a tumble or 2 she maid it to about 20 yards of the road we got the guts rolled out of her backed up the truck and drug her in whole took her to the main gate and began to skin her and chunk her up while we were there before we loaded her up we had 3 other cow hunters drive by us and said they have been hunting since the 1 when it opened and they had seen lots of bulls but none had seen a cow and man they were pissed it took us 15 min of our first day so we got her to a local butcher shop and headed back to camp before we had left me and mikey had talked about buying micha a muzzleloader elk tag people had told me that there are elk up in 124 but not that many so we planned on the next 6 days trying to find a elk we got to a spot they had scouted for moose were they thought we could glass this was 5:00 when we left with the quads from the main gate diffrent spot from thompson we got back about 5 miles and we were doing like 5 miles a hour stoping and glasssing etc we went around the corner and i locked up the brakes cow elk in the road 50 yards away we bailed off the 4 wheeler as they ran down the hill micha and mikey went right i went left as soon as i got to the edge i let out a yell they are over here i saw 3 cows and 3 calves running down this bowl they ran to me as the elk started up the other side 120 yards away i cow called with my mouth and they all stoped and looked back micha off hand 120-130yards took aim i told him to sling lead the gun went off and the closeest cow droped in her tracks he had spined her then omg we went nuts screaming yelling tackeling eachother lol it was so amazing we ran down the hill and he put 1 more in her neck at 6:30pm omg what a day we split her in half drove the quads to her and got her out by the time we got back to camp split her up baged her up skinned of course it was 12:30 at night the best day of hunting in all of our lives poor 13 old is ruined for life lol they had the cameras and as soon as i get the pictures emailed to me i will post them up here thanks all

and our week long vacation lasted 48 hours not a week we headed home and got back on 10/06/09

well it sounds like an exciting hunt as stated though we need pics, pics are like our crack around here we get a few and we need a constant supply after that

That is awesome! Congrats to the hunter and I think you probably did ruin him with hunting.  I don't think you guys will have any shortage of meat for awhile and man will they be good eating.
