The stomp
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:03:19 AM »
The most dangerous animal in the woods I think.  I guess with Cougars, you don't know its comin.  Bear probably bluff you more than really doing anything. Wolves, they are chicken *censored* gang crapbirds, stealing your kids, or tackling you with 20 of their friends,  but a Momma moose, she lets you know she is about to grind you in the dirt.
Sorry for the blurr, but I was more interested in saving my skin.

moose are big and scary, but easy enough to deal with.

maybe this is common knowlege, maybe it aint. figure I'll share anyway.

Find a tree, needs to be big, but still small enough that you can see the moose other the other side.... then do everything you can to keep that tree between you and the moose. (or really just a convieneint tree about 10-12 inches dia).

well, it doesn't solve the problem, but it gives you time to think out a solution.

done this twice one time it got tired and gave up, the second time it gave me time to look for a place I could run and she wasn't following

and came home once to my mom (who decided to feed them... geez) dancing around a tree in the front yard with a moose.

there are pictures somewhere, she decided to feed the moose carrots to take close pictures. when she ran out of carrots the moose tried to take the camera, when she wouldn't give it up the moose got angry.

You can see the look on her face.  Nose tucked, cocked head, and glaring eyes!
