Chukars near E-burg

Thinking about heading over to Eastern, WA (Ellensburg, Yakima) to do some chukar hunting, anyone have some insight or tips on general tactics, or terrain. I don't think they are quite the same as the stocked ones back home

In the canyon and look for steep and rocky! I think that describes the whole canyon!

Try the Qilomene, Durr Road or Firing Center. All areas hold chukar, huns. Huns are usually in lower areas.
Look for high areas above the canyons. The areas I hunt I usually have ski pole for balance so I don't kill myself.
PM for more detailed info.

When you can reach out and touch the hill you are standing on or you are trying to shoot while standing on loose rock and not fall down you are in chukar country. Try any of the ridges that run down to the Columbia river and look for places where there is water.
I was gonna head over this weekend myself, but plans keep getting made for me. Now I have things to do on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Oh well hopefully Saturday I will get on some grouse. Chukars watch out I will be back for my revenge!!!!!!!!!

sportfury you are right
When I first started hunting chukar 4 years ago I took out my pretty 11-87 remington Premier shotgun. Big mistake!
I dropped that gun so many times, and fell down so many times that that gun took a real beating.
I now bring my old 870 with a sling. I have dropped chukar in areas I was really scared to retrieve them. Sometime times think I need to bring mountaineering rope
But is sure is fun and great leg work out
