OUTFITTER FOR HIGH BUCK HUNT
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:17:50 PM »
My buddy's and I have been going on the High buck hunt for many years now, we are successful 95% of the time. We always backpack in, and I love the challenge of it but the reality is it is tough getting out more than one animal during the six day's we hunt. We are looking for an Outfitter who will take us where we want to go and pick us up on the scheduled date. We want to use our own backpacking gear so we can be mobile. Does anyone have any recomendations? Thanks in advance.

By the way we hunt in the Alpine Lakes.

Why a outfitter, you can just higher a packer with mules, maybe Machias?

Yeah, that is really all we need. But who or what is Machias?

He's a guy on here - I recognize the user name.  You can probably look him up and PM him...

Well for the Alpine Lakes Area I would look at Icicle Outfitters. They will pretty much accomidate you there. Dale is a good guy and Bruce runs a good outfit. You can provide your own gear if you like. I believe you can even get ahold of him after you get an animal and they will pack it out if they are in the area. Cost less that way

Who or what is a Machias!   :chuckle:  I'd be interested in seeing if I could help.  But I will be honest with you, if there is a guy that does this for a living I don't want to take business away from guys working their tails off doing this for a living.  I'm also not a professional, so be forewarned I'm just an average guy who seems to make it into the backcountry and back out in one piece with his mules, but not a professional in any sense of the word.  If your still willing to discuss it, give me a holler.   :)
