Well, I hunted yesterday and it was the best day so far.  I was at my spot at about 5:30am still dark of course so I maid my hike really slow in an area I haven't checked.  At first light I hear commotion in the brush about fourthy yards out, I get begind a stump and made a cow call to see if anything happens.  First call the whole brush starts shaking like crazy and I can hear the stumping it sounded like fright train, I got ready and to my supprise it was two kettle cows and I mean the biggest beef cows I have ever seen in my life running by me within 15 yards from me, let me tell that got my heart going.  After that I kept walking, I came around a corner and could not believe my ears, at was just getting light and there were cows calling everywhere, from all directions in front of me they were having a pretty nice chitchat.  I got on my knees and started my stalk.  I made it behind a fallen tree (big tree) and peaked over it, only to almost kiss a cow on the other side, lol :peep:, she was that close and looking right at me.  She did not spook to bad she went thirty yards stooped and looked at me, all I could see is her had looking at my and her white butt.  I drew the bow and hoped she would turn but she never did and ran off.  I was so exited and said well this hunt allready was a success, I turned and walked towards my hunting companion saying did you see that, when he replied spike right behind you, I turned and sure enough there was a cow and a spike running towards us, not knowing we were there.  It happend so fast, cow came running sees me not knowing what the hell turns runs behind a tree and the spike right behind her, I have a small opening, the cow passes the opening I know the spike is next, see him and I let it fly.  Clean miss at 20 yards but they were running pretty good.   :bash: :bash:
Called in another spike two hours later he circled me and knew something was up and he ran up a ridge stooped and bugled at me for about 10 minutes, it was a spike and he could not really bugle but he tried and it sounded really cool it was the start of a bugle with about 90% of the end missing.  :chuckle:
I had a heck of a day man was that cool.  Thanks Yak I found them.  The only bad thing is the season closes on Thursday and work will allow me maybe one more morning hunt.  I hope I get one more chance.

Austrian.

My cousin's friend has the bull tag. Last I heard he wasn't successful, but was getting into lots of elk. Just not able to get close enough.
