To the 3911 (Weilh Rd) hunter...
« on: December 26, 2007, 01:36:44 PM »
...who shot an elk up off Weilh road on Sunday (23rd)....I hope you choke on it, you SOB.  Your the ones riding snowmobiles back in behind the closed gates.

Sunday, my buddy and I were up trampin' around in the deep snow all day, and didn't see any cows.  We did hear a couple of shots at one point, but they were a ways off and sounded more like a shotgun, than rifle, so we figured it was some birdhunter.  On the way back out that afternoon, when we hit the gate road, we saw blood in the snow and after looking up and down the road realized someone had used a snowmobile and drug and elk out.  when we got back to our vehicles at the gate, we could see where they had backed their truck up to the fence, tore the fence down, so they could get their snowmobiles through, went in and drug the elk out and loaded into the truck.  Saw where the blood was dripping out the back of the truck onto the road behind them as they went down the road a little ways to a spot where they loaded the snowmobile back into the truck or trailer.  Lost the blood trail before we got back out to Masterson road, so we couldn't tell which way they went from there.

Did we report it????  Hell, no!  To who? F&G doesn't consider that poaching; only trespassing, which is something the county is supposed to enforce, but the fact is neither the F&G or Kittitas county is going to waste their time responding and making a report.

We did the only thing that might make a difference, and we tried to string the fence back up as best we could, so at least the next time they come back with the snowmobiles, maybe they have to work at getting through again...and again...and again...

Anyway, if by chance you lazy SOBs frequent this board....I hope you choke on that elk and die, and rot in hell!!!!

That's a *censored*ty deal that you are out there walking your ass off and that scenerio happens.  My dad is an advanced hunter as well and him and I were driving in his jeep around some of the roads that have public and private land next to it, the public land is part of the 3911 unit.  We came around the corner and there was blood in the ditch and on the road, but it was on the private ground side, saw a bunch of elk hair in the blood, looked like someone shot it right in the ditch and loaded it up and got out of there...same day saw a bunch of ravens in the trees, walked over there and there was a dead cow, not sure if she was shot but i'm pretty sure she was.....thought it may have been a lion kill but there were no tracks.
Snowmobiles would be the way to go though for this unit.  You can cover a lot more ground and get to the top of the ridge.  There are two other ways to get into the Weihl road other than the way you went in, really easy, just too bad those people had to tear down the fence and ride snowmobiles back there.  No one enforces it, everyone rides snowmobiles back there, I usually do every winter (not hunting) though.

Yah, this is the first year that me and my buddy have hunted over in that unit, so we are still trying to find access and ways in there without trespassing, and without all the motorcycles, quads, and now snowmobiles.  We love the area, though.  Seems like everytime we get into another area that we haven't ever been in before, it becomes our new favorite area.  Heck of a lot different that hunting on the wetside...

Other than the deal with the snowmobiles, I just loved being out there in the snow.  We had a good time messing with this one stupid doe, though..... :chuckle: :chuckle:  She couldn't tell what she was looking at, and would take a couple of step towards us, then back up, walk around in a circle then come towards us again, then back up again.  When she wasn't looking I snorted and wheezed at her once, and she wirled back around, wheezed, and took some steps towards us again.  We must have stood there froze like statues for a good 5 minutes messin with her before we got bored with that and moved on.  It was fun though....  :chuckle:
