DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!! I bought one because I needed to replace a 12 ga pump gun and figured that Remington had improved on the quality of the 870. Wrong! On the 3rd hunt the front sight broke off when my buddy was pulling it out of the boat. The next day the slide froze twice requiring a complete disassembly each time. When I called Remington the following Monday they said that they would send me a new sight within 10 business days, I have yet to get the new sight 2 months later.
Also, and this is completely subjective, it is a terrible gun for upland hunting. It just feels like it swings slow. Way to much plastic on this gun. Before anyone buys it, pull the trigger group out and see for yourself. This story does have a happy ending. I ended up trading it straight across for a 20 ga 870 wingmaster.
Save your money and get an 870 or a SuperNova

I hate new models. Every time some new model comes out there are problems. I read the gun tests artilce and they absolutely slammed the gun. I just couldn't buy one myself. Hope those of you who have bought one got a good one. I think it really sucks that a company like Remington is starting to sell so much junk.

I've had no prolems with mine and have abused the heck out of it this year. It has been a great shotgun so far. Not saying this is the best gun ever made or anything, just want to let you all know that mine has been rock solid.
Cheers!

Its ugly and seems like a gimick to me. If you need a durable waterfoul gun why not just get an 870 supermag with synthetic stocks on it? Can't get anymore durable then that.

I went and looked at the 887 again. Just couldn't get excited about it. Probably won't be purchasing one.

I have a 1187 that I like but I grew up shooting my grandfathers 1100s. I never shot any pumps when I was a kid.
