RPM-- Good luck on the hunt.  I am sure you have hear this, but it is worth repeating.  The ears are roughly six inches long.  Use them as your first guide.  Second, if the ears are below the prongs you are usually going to be at least 13".  If you are looking for length that will help a bunch.  If you are looking for score you need to look at mass.  You get 4 measurements for mass on a lope, this is really where you can score.  2 above the prongs and 2 below.  My 2 pictures above score with in an inch of each other.  One is tall the other has mass.  Both make Pope and Young, not even close to Boone and Crocket.  P and Y is 67, B and C is 81.  Both those lopes were right at 70".  Hope that helps a little.  You will have a blast!!
thank you very much. that hepls a bunch

Here my goat from 2 weeks ago in Wyoming.  It was my first antelope hunt and it was a blast.  I definitely plan on doing again.

You guys are killing me.  I put in for MT this year and didn't get drawn.  I'll have to wait a friggin' year. :bash:  When the boy turns 12 we will start putting in for Wyoming.

If you don't get drawn ..there are plenty over the counter tags too.

You are talking about Wyoming, right?  Also, does anyone know if you can buy a MT Antelope doe tag OTC if you didn't get drawn for a buck tag?

In Wyoming I believe you have to draw in order to buy the doe tags for the same unit you draw in. I could be mistaken but that seemed to be what we did this year. We could have purchased 4 or 5 doe/fawn tags along with the buck tag. 34 dollars each doe/fawn tag.

That's the way I understood it too when I researched WY earlier this year.  I think maybe the OTC tags Yelp is talking about are the leftovers from units that didn't get enough applicants.

Call the game department in Wyoming. They are real friendly and helpful. They should be able to answer this question pretty fast.

Gut,
Just got back from Wyoming this week and traveled during snow storm. Just take your time going through the passes in Montana. Make sure you stop for a burger in missal at 5 guys burgers and fries off of exit 105. You will love the antelope hunting. I am now addicted after going to Wyoming two years in a row and also hunting Montana for goats as well.Next time pass on the guide as it is not necessary for goats. My brother came with us and bought an over the counter and shot a 80 4/8 goat within 2 hours of purchasing the tag.Good Luck

Thanks. Next time I probably wont do a guide but I'm alone like always, and got tired of waiting for my friends to step up and start applying with me. Just didn't feel like deadheading it by myself having never hunted there before and didn't feel like waiting anymore. You hear me BH2BT, and MHWash??  :chuckle: Maybe next year I can get a few fellow YAR morons to apply with me.  :chuckle:  :chuckle:
