Deer opener coming like a freight train
« on: October 11, 2009, 09:49:15 PM »
Less than a week now. Rain predicted starting Tuesday in SW Washington. Woods will be wet and quiet. Got the truck and trailer ready this week end. Getting excited.
Can't we all just get along?

You guys should have the best opener in years.  Killer weather.  I'm jealous.  Good luck out there.

Ditto, I have the Late Alta tag but I'll be going this weekend to get my son a buck. He's 16 and has only killed one small buck (when he was 10) and does every year since then. Who knows, if a nice buck steps out I may be tempted  :chuckle:

Deer opener coming like a freight train! I know... This weekend I got the kitchen remodel more to the wife's liking. She's got a functional sink and dishwasher! (she hasn't had a sink in the kitchen for a couple months or so...)  Then I got time to get in the loft of the shop to pull the hunting gear down. It's all sittin there in the shop for me to stow in the trailer this evening. I've got three evenings to get things all ready!

Startin my list and checking it twice.

This is my most anticipated opener in all the years I have hunted. This will be my 9 year old son's first season hunting, he passed his hunters ed in June. He has made me scout like never before and told me NO SHOOTING HIS BUCK durring archery season.  The boy has not slept in a week, every morning I get the count down. We are ready to leave Friday morning.

Thanks for reminding me...time to put up the no hunting signs in my fields and put orange vests on my steers.  It's crazy where "hunters" will shoot when they see a buck.

Good luck to all you real rifle hunters though!

I am going crazy. I got laid off last week, again, so looks like I'm going for the week instead of just the weekend. I'm already packed, so now I'm just waiting. This is going to be a long week. Friday morning can't come soon enough.

I remember my Grandfather painting "COW" in big letters on the sides of his in orange paint.
I get to play guide again this year for the g/f, my dad and nephew and cut firewood, hope they tag out opening day so i can relax..
Come on late archery hunt.....
