Well, my season has taken a turn for the worst before it even started.

Last friday i found a coworker dead in his bed  :bash: not only is he going to be missed but it also cancels my vacation for deer season  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Here is the original plan:
Leave friday after work to set up camp and scout for the weekend (10-9-09).
Leave work on Wed (10-14 09) for deer camp, scut untill sat then start shooting deer (we have 5 tags to fill).
Stay untill wed (10-21-09) and then return on friday with who ever needed to fill there tag till, or head over to Bethel ridge the second weekend and hunt for deer and scout for elk (not happening).

Here is what is now happening and has already happened:
Left early sat morning to set up camp and scout for part of the weekend. Did not leavr friday for i was mentally screwed up after finding... well you know. Let my son dive my truck for a bit while scouting and he put a huge dent in the drivers door (did not take a corner wide enough  :bash:) Seen very few deer and froze my arse off sat night, temp droped to 8*.
In stead of leaving for camp on wed, I am now leaving for camp on friday evening after the funeral. In stead f cming home on wed i have to be back to work on wed. I ggot some one to cover for me for monday and tuesday but unable to get more the tw days off right now (untill i replace the lost coworker). As for the second weekend of deer season, I have no clue what i am going to do  :dunno:

And to think, i was excited for this year but has gone to schitz before it even started.........

You could bag early deer season, get the work affairs in order, clear your head. Focus on Elk and late buck. The good Lord only throws us things we can handle. You'll get through this.

Thanks for reminding me...time to put up the no hunting signs in my fields and put orange vests on my steers.  It's crazy where "hunters" will shoot when they see a buck.

Good luck to all you real rifle hunters though!
I remember my Grandfather painting "COW" in big letters on the sides of his in orange paint.
I get to play guide again this year for the g/f, my dad and nephew and cut firewood, hope they tag out opening day so i can relax..
Come on late archery hunt.....

HA!  Your Grandfather had a great idea!

Leaving wednesday night after work.  Gonna spend thursday cutting wood and setting up camp, friday relaxing.   Then Saturday i think i'll walk around in the woods with a loaded gun and my orange hat on!   Good luck to everyone.  Take lots of pictures so we all have something to look at for the next 51 weeks after its over!

Less than a week now. Rain predicted starting Tuesday in SW Washington. Woods will be wet and quiet. Got the truck and trailer ready this week end. Getting excited.

I hear ya.  But I bet your really getting excited about that late hunt you got coming up with your son.  The weather is shaping up very nicely for that.  Hopefully it holds up there.

Still not sure if I'm going this year. It came up way to fast and my wedding and house purchase/remodel all got in the way of scouting anything close to home.

I have a buddy that I might at least go out with, not sure if I'll buy a tag though. May just go along to help pack his out.

Dang those are some nice bucks. Hopefully we will see as many bucks as we did last year opening weekend. We counted 16 bucks the first 2 days of the season and that was over brown (cut) wheat, this year we will be hunting over green winter wheat and sage, s/b a good year.

Good luck everyone.  I just dropped in to read a few post and check the intel on the 410 deal.  I won't be up there this weekend, but will be to fill the antlerless tag I got in Nov.

Glad to be sitting in a warm, dry cabin this weekend and next (unless we tag out!) after the rain we'll get during the day.

Again, good luck!

Two more days and a wakeup, I don't know if I can make it. I'm going crazy. I'm already packed, and re-packed. Now there's nothing to do but wait.
