New Light
« on: October 13, 2009, 10:11:20 AM »
There is a new light for night time hunting just coming out that will probably revolutionize night hunting as we all know it.  It is an LED light, that you can see yotes out to 150-200 yards on the low side!!  Last 4-5 hours on high and up to 20 hours on low.  Weighs only 6 ounces!  Recharges in 8 hours.  No wires going to a battery pack, because there is no battery pack.  Bulb lasts 100,000 hours and does not heat up.  Battery lasts for 500 charges befor it needs to be replaced, which runs about $45.  Since it's LED it looks like you may not need the red lense, however they will have a red lense to go with it by the end of the month as well as a barrel mount for your shotgun or a scope mount for your rifle.  The light it casts is a softer blue tint is why the coons, yotes and bobcats are coming in without the red lense.  Only drawback is the price @ $269.  However that is still cheaper then alot of the headlamps being used by today's coon and predator hunting world.  It's called Preator Light and once I get mine and test it out I will post my findings.  Looks very promising!!

The field testing going on over at Predator Masters looks extremely promising!  :)

That isnt too expensive either considering the two streamlights I own costs about 100 each.

The one thing I am looking forward to finding out is the burn times during the cold, how much is the battery affected during frigid nights.  But even if it cuts them in half, 10 hours is plenty of hunting time.

Hmmm.  Aside from the battery life, it sounds like my son's Surefire.  He has a red lense for it, and it will shine further than I want to shoot.  Price is about the same as well.
