Fletching glue

So I had some fletchings fall off this years and I don't know if it was the glue or what.

This is what I'm using, " Arizona Archery Elite Plastifletch Vanes with Fastset Gel ".  I love the gel because it seem easier to work with, but it got brittle when my arrows where out hunting.

Arrow prep I did,  rub fletching area down with scotts bright pad, wipe arrow and fletching down with alcohol, applied just the right amount of glue.  I've used this same set-up last years with no problem.  Maybe I got some bad glue???

Looking for some different options, what's your suggestions.

I gave up the gel years ago, seemed back then it didn't last long. I have been using Goat Tuff for the past 4 years and haven't had a problem. I keep it in the fridge while not in use.  Maybe just a bad batch

We use Fletch-tite platinum
if you are shooting Beman Arrows you need to sand the shaft really good
you can also use Gorilla Super Glue...IMPACT-TOUGH...it doesnt seen to get brittle.

I learned the hard way this year,  use wraps on aluminum with feathers!

I am not 100% on this but when I was having problems with fletching glue on aluminum arrows I was told to wash well with acetone rather than alcohol. Something with the arrows being coated in some kind of oil for shipping and storage purposes. If this is true alcohol is not strong enough to break down the oil very well, but acetone will work good. After that advice I never had another vane come off of my shafts.

heres my combo for the last 4 years aswell as all my buddies use! wrap your arrows, fastset the best there is imo DO NOT USE ALCOHOL OR MEK NOTHING if you have to clean them hot water and dish soap and whipe hard until the arrow squweeks! use very minimal fastset almost to were you think you almost didnt put any on! never once had one come off just sliced off with broadheads. its almost a must to run wraps with fastset, ill tell you why the superglue in it almost acts as a weld, it kind melts into the wrap itself. Also make sure your degree's are set up right on your fletcher or you'll have a side of the vane that doest make contact!

For those of you that use Goat tuff be aware that there is a 3 month shelf life on it.  I used to use it exclusively until I found out that fact.  If you are fletching carbons with blazers I have found that saunders NPV works the best and weather does not effect it.  With any fast set you can run the risk of the glue becoming brittle in cold weather.
