I might think about the Wenas side since 410 is closed and access issues.   Barbecue flats...kinda popular in elk season.  First week of November last of October.

Yeah I guess It kinda depends how you plan on hunting it. And whether or not you have snow.

I'm gonna hunt from the bottom , just got word from the bio that the rams are starting after the ewes and theres freash chick grass poping up low . I'm looking for a camp spot close to the hwy 12 cut off . then if we head up it will be in the mornings , I suspect snow and ice on the top of the ridge .thanks guys

Not sure if you can camp there but maybe you could go to the place where they feed the sheep? Again not sure if its legal though.

Depends on where you plan on hunting  :dunno:

If I were to hunt around hwy 12 then i would camp at oak creek.
If i were to hunt Clemns Mt. the i would camp along the Bald Mt road. There are some good places to camp up along the road to the flats.
If I were to hunt the North slopes or canyons i would camp arund bbq flats.

Hope this helps.

Its my understanding that most of the sheep will be kinda low on the south side of clemans , does oakcreek have a camp ground that would be close , I was also thinking of squaw rock if the road is passable . the first week of nov the bald mountain road can get real slick towwing a 28 ft trailer. the wenas side is a huge drive around . if I could get up the nile road that too would be a thaught. Any info on oak creek would be great thanks.

Oak creek is just a big parking lot (elk feed stastion). Park along the back of the lot.
Squaw rock is also a good choice.

I live in the area and suggest go in and camp by the Wenas elk Feeding station.
Less people and nicer area. Close access to your area
