Got these pics from Coach earlier today. General consensus has him in the 163-164 range being conservative. The Cali record for archery in Washington is 164 7/8.

There are bigger ones in there, low 170 class. I think he was going to try and put a stock on him with archery gear. If he is okay with a mid 160 class then even if he pushes this one out, there will be plenty others in that class he can take with a rifle later. I'd pass on this one for now, first day and all, but its his tag and I'm behind him 100% whatever he decides. I'm loaded up and ready for the call to go help him get it out though.

Nice to see a guy putting the time in and knows exactly what he wants.  He will be rewarded.

I'm loaded up and ready for the call to go help him get it out though.

The area he is hunting will be an all down hill pack. He'll have his sheep out, plugged and drunk by the time you get out of the city Phool. :chuckle:

I dont know about that sheep being low 160's. Not the best picture but that thing has a ton of drop to the right horn...well below the jaw line. Lots of times their decievingly long when they are shaped like that. I would put that sheep in the upper 160's (167-169pts)

He should try and kill that thing if it wanders into a good spot for a stalk. With a sheeps senses generally you have to get within bow range about 4 times with a bow before you can close the deal.

I agree AK.   I'd try very hard to deflate that thing with my longbow and I would be as thrilled as any OIL hunter could be.  He is in the upper percentile for trophy rams in that unit.

He's a nice ram but there are two bigger ones on the mountain.  For kicks, what are your individual measurements?  I had it at 33, 14.5, 14, 12, 9.  165 total.  With two rams in the 170's, I'd let him walk...?

I had him about 2 inches longer so 169.  I like his flare and mass.
