He's a nice ram but there are two bigger ones on the mountain.  For kicks, what are your individual measurements?  I had it at 33, 14.5, 14, 12, 9.  165 total.  With two rams in the 170's, I'd let him walk...?

I like your mass guestimates but I think you're underestimating the length. I have him more like 37 inches (at least on the left side) he carries his mass well which adds a lot of length.

With archery tackle I would have to try to take that ram. Sooooo much can happen when trying to kill a sheep with a bow. If it didnt happen that would be OK but you have to make best of your opportunities with a bow when you have them. Nice sheep regardless a real trophy for anyone with a bow. Go Coach!

Sorry meant to give thoughts on measurements...37, 14.5, 13.5, 11.5, 9. 171 pts.

Hope he kills it so we can see who is closer...you're not allowed to go over.

I'll go 164 Pope and knowing there are a couple 170+ rams in there I would pass as well, he has a month and with all the mid 160 rams running around out there, dropping one with a couple days to go shouldn't be a problem. :twocents:

#408 dodged a bullet or should I say an arrow today. Coach can tell the rest of the story later.

He just can't be 37" AK.  I got a better image of him and maybe that will help out the scoring.  If you put him up side by side with Andrew288's dad's ram that is 37 on one side and 34 on the other, they come from the same stock, the ram is about or slightly less than the 34" side.  I could buy 34" but no larger.  That would put him at 167 which I would buy.  In my mind there is no way I can logically get that ram to score more than 170.

It's fun to debate it though.   :chuckle:

So which is bigger 408 or the one we are scoring.  Prsonally I'd shoot the one we were scoring before 408, but that is with just one camera angle. I'm not commenting in regards to Coaches choices, asking a serious question.

Last night I told coach to shoot a ram that HE would be happy with and one that HE thinks looks good. Forget all this scoring *censored*. The biggest ram on the mountain isn't always the best looking. All of this scoring talk over the last 4 months has put alot of pressure on the poor guy to perform. It's easy for everyone to sit on their computers telling him what ram to shoot. He's the one hoofing it up and down that mountain. There is a reason that the tag is filled in 1.5 days. Most guys can't even get out of bed the second day.

This is just my opinion and is in no way directed at anyone in general. :twocents:

Its indeed a good opinion.  Having that deer tag last year, I shot the buck I wanted, not the one that would score the highest by any means, so know exactly what you mean.  I didn't feel pressure to perform though, I think thats more of a cop out than anything.   Just have a damn good time and enjoy that tag.  You only get to do it once.
