You'd think with shells at $ .50 to $3.50 each, people would be a little less wateful of shot and crippled ducks.
It's pretty much a given when hunting public land. You just gotta learn to deal with it. Funny you say it made you switch to upland hunting, I quit upland hunting because I was tired of getting peppered with shot, and guys whose dogs came runnin lose across the field while they chased after them.
I had the same awful problem on the Skagit on the opener - drunk yahoos skyblasting 70-90 yards regularly. Lots of winged birds coasting way out into the bay. They shot a seagull too... unbelievable. I called WDFW.
